Legume variety cards
Legume germplasm evaluation trials were conducted in farmers’ environment, in each of the action sites of the 4 mandate areas (Umutara, Kigali-Kibungo, Sud-Kivu montagneux and Bas-Congo). Specific measurements included: grain yield, physiology, response to manure or fertilizer application, biomass production, and susceptibility to pests and diseases. Farmers evaluated the germplasm and indicated the preferred traits of each variety. Based on these results, variety cards were developed for all varieties adapted to the environment.
